Privacy

Drinkkompassen is run by Joakim Jedholt in Stockholm, Sweden. We care about your privacy and collect as little data as we reasonably can. This policy sets out what we collect, why, and how to reach us if you have questions.

What the site collects

We use Plausible Analytics to count visits to drinkkompassen.app. Plausible is a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It does not set cookies and does not track individual visitors. We see aggregated figures such as page views, approximate country, browser and operating system. We do not see who you are, your name or your IP address.

Plausible is an EU company based in Germany. No data is transferred outside the EU. You can read more about how Plausible handles data at plausible.io/data-policy.

What the iOS app collects

The Drinkkompassen app for iPhone stores your cabinet, your favourites, your own recipes and your notes locally on the device. If you have iCloud enabled, Apple syncs this data between your devices through your own iCloud account. That sync happens between your device and Apple, and we have no access to it.

To understand what is popular and what we should add, the app collects aggregated usage statistics: which drinks are viewed, which are rated, and how often the app is used. This is stored in our own database at Apple (CloudKit) and tied to a device identifier that Apple provides (identifierForVendor), not to your name, your email or your iCloud account. We use it only in aggregate, we do not share it with third parties, and it is not used for advertising or to follow you across apps. The identifier resets if you delete the app.

When you use the app's AI scanning to identify a bottle or recipe, the image and any extracted text are sent briefly to Anthropic (Claude API) for image analysis and text recognition. Images and text are deleted immediately after processing and are not used to train AI models. More on how Anthropic handles data: anthropic.com/privacy.

If you choose to share a recipe, a rating or a review with Community, it becomes visible to other users of the app. We do not share your name or email alongside what you publish, and recipes are reviewed before they go live. Recipe content and images from the catalogue are fetched from a content database.

In-app purchases

Drinkkompassen Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store payment information. Apple tells us a purchase has been made, but not who made it. Apple's privacy policy covers the purchase itself and can be found at apple.com/legal/privacy.

Age limit

Drinkkompassen is rated 17+ on the App Store due to alcohol-related content. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 17. If we discover that we have collected data from someone under 17, it is deleted without delay.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to ask what data we hold about you and to have it corrected or deleted. The data we store centrally is the aggregated usage statistics described above, tied to a device identifier and not to your identity. If you want us to delete it, or you have other questions, reach us at support@drinkkompassen.app. You can also reset the identifier yourself by deleting the app.

Changes

If we update this policy we will change the date above. Larger changes will be communicated in the app or on the site.
